What working with us actually looks like — and why it matters
We're not trying to be the biggest advisory firm in Kuala Lumpur. We're trying to be the most useful one for the organisations we work with.
Back to HomeSix things that shape how we work
Proportionate to your size
We don't apply enterprise-scale frameworks to firms that don't need them. Every recommendation fits the organisation asking for it.
Builds internal capability
We design structures that your people can own and maintain. Our exit is part of the plan from the start.
Deliverables you can use
Outputs are written, usable and handed over. Not presentation slides — working documents and templates.
Consistent communication
You'll know where the engagement stands at all times. Updates at agreed intervals, no chasing required.
Clear scope, no drift
We agree on scope before starting and flag changes early. Projects don't expand quietly on either side.
Grounded in Malaysian context
We understand how organisations in Malaysia are structured, how decisions get made and what reporting actually looks like in local businesses.
What each of these means in practice
Advisory expertise built on delivery experience
Our team came up through delivery roles before moving into advisory. That distinction matters: we've sat with the project leads whose work we now help structure, managed portfolios under pressure and reported to boards that needed clear information. The advice we give is grounded in what actually happens on the ground, not what textbooks suggest should happen.
- Experience across financial services, infrastructure and professional services sectors in Malaysia
- Familiarity with the reporting and governance expectations of Malaysian leadership teams
- Understanding of how project offices are typically staffed and funded at different organisational sizes
A structured engagement process with defined outputs
Each of our engagements follows a clear path: we start by listening, then document what we've found, then design or recommend, then hand over. At every stage there's a written output — not a verbal briefing or a deck of slides. Clients leave each engagement with materials they can actually use the following week.
- Defined deliverables at each stage, agreed upfront
- Written handover at the end of every engagement — not a verbal summary
- Post-engagement review to close out and capture learning
Responsive and accessible throughout the engagement
We operate with a small team, which means the people you speak with at the start of an engagement are the same people doing the work. You won't spend time re-briefing a different team member or waiting for information to travel up or down a hierarchy.
- Direct access to the consultants responsible for your engagement
- Responses to messages within one working day
- Regular update notes so you always know where things stand
Fixed, transparent pricing with no scope ambiguity
Our three service tiers are fixed in price and scope. You know what you're paying and what you'll receive before any work begins. There are no retainer-based ambiguities and no time-and-materials billing that grows unpredictably. If your situation calls for a different arrangement, we'll discuss that openly before proposing anything.

Structures that organisations keep using after we leave
The measure of a good project office setup isn't how sophisticated it looks in a design document — it's whether teams use it six months later. We focus our design choices on adoption: simplicity, relevance to how the organisation already works, and enough flexibility to adapt as things change.
- Templates designed to be used, not filed away
- Reporting formats that match how leadership actually reads information
- Roles and responsibilities clear enough for anyone stepping into them
Cindermark vs. the typical advisory approach
| Aspect | Typical Advisory Firms | Cindermark |
|---|---|---|
| Engagement scope | Often open-ended or time-based | Fixed scope, agreed upfront |
| Deliverable format | Slide presentations | Working documents and templates |
| Team continuity | Rotating team members | Same consultants throughout |
| Pricing model | Time & materials, variable cost | Fixed fee, published pricing |
| Framework dependency | Standardised methodology applied to all | Tailored to your organisation's situation |
| Post-engagement outcome | Continued reliance on the advisor | Internal capability built, advisor not needed |
| Local context | International templates applied locally | Designed for Malaysian organisational culture |
The things that are genuinely different about working with Cindermark
We design for adoption, not appearance
A project office that looks good on paper but doesn't get used is not a success. We test every recommendation against one question: will teams actually use this in three months' time? If the answer is uncertain, we simplify until it is.
Engagements scoped for the problem, not the budget
We have three service tiers starting at RM 600. If a two-week assessment is all your situation needs right now, we'll say so. We don't push organisations toward larger engagements when smaller ones would be more appropriate.
Conversational entry point, no sales process
Our initial conversation is a genuine discussion — we're listening to understand, not building a proposal in our head. You can describe your situation and ask questions without it turning into a pitch.
Reporting design that matches leadership habits
We ask what your senior leadership actually reads and in what format. The reporting structures we design reflect that — not what a project management standard says they should look like.
